Road Rules Information Notice

Effective 4 November 2026

Key points

1. What the information is

1.1Farlocal gives general information about road rules in the places it covers, for education and trip planning. It describes what the rules say in plain words. It is not legal advice and does not tell you what to do in your own situation.

1.2Each rule shows the official source it was written from and the date it was last checked. Where we have not been able to check a topic for a place, the app says "Not yet covered" rather than guessing.

1.3Farlocal is not a government app. It is not made, endorsed or checked by any government, police force or road authority, and it uses no official logos, crests or styling. For the binding wording of a rule, use the official source named on that rule.

2. What always comes first

2.1The law of the place you are in, and the signs, signals, road markings and directions from police and other authorised officers, always take priority over anything in the app.

2.2Local rules can differ from the rules for the wider state or country, for example in a city centre, near schools, in road works or on private roads.

3. The information can be wrong or out of date

3.1Laws, speed limits, penalties and document requirements change, sometimes at short notice. We check rules against official sources, but the information may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and it is not a complete statement of the law.

3.2Penalty amounts are shown as at the date stated and are a guide only. Before you travel, check the official source linked on each rule that matters to you, and the advice of your own government for travellers.

4. Using the app safely

4.1Use the app only as a passenger or when parked, never while driving or riding. Plan before you go, or ask a passenger to look something up. Animations are simplified drawings to explain a rule; real roads, vehicles and situations vary.

4.2The app does not replace a driving lesson, a licence test, the official road-user handbook, or professional advice about licences, insurance or vehicle hire.

5. Telling us about a mistake

5.1If you think a rule is wrong or out of date, tap "Report a problem" on that rule or contact us by email to support@galixstudios.com. We check every report against the official source.

6. Our responsibility

6.1To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for fines, penalties, losses or damage that result from relying on information in the app instead of the law, official signs and directions, or official sources. Nothing in this notice limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. Our Terms of Use explain this further.

7. Language

7.1This document is written in English. Translations in the App are provided to help you read it; if a translation differs from the English, the English version applies.
